Luminal, Alessandra Perna (Leading Vocals & Rhythm Guitar), Carlo Martinelli (Backing Vocals & Leading Guitar), Alessandro Catalano (Bass), Alessandro Pieravanti (Drums) form the band in Rome in 2006. Taking advantage of the band members' many influences Luminal create their own genre by mixing up noise, grunge, punk, math rock, but always taking care of their lyrics. Since the beginning Luminal underline their striking live attitude, alternating fast rock 'n' roll with more intimate tunes which definitely show the growing maturity of the band. Working hard Luminal start obtaining a rising success, playin' the most important roman venues (Alpheus, Circolo degli Artisti for SoundzProduction,Traffic, Spazio aperto Roma Tre where they opened for the famous duo Lillo & Greg, Led Zep, C.S.O. Pirateria, C.S.O.A. Villaggio Globale, Rockness, Cantina Mediterraneo, 360 Gradi and many others), then partecipating to many festivals and contests all over italy such as Rock Fest in Silvi where they opened for Bambole di Pezza and classified first in the breakthrough artists section, driving the audience literally crazy (http://blackglamo.splinder.com/archive/2006-08). Besides they have played at the historical Leoncavallo in Milan (one of the most important italian venues) and in many other italian cities (Naples, Florence, Turin.) In 2006 they release their first EP, "Quello che resta" which tracks have been played by many radios (Radio Rock, Radio Onda Rossa, Radio Città Aperta) and in the same year Alessandra published for Kal Editions her first novel entitled "Sala d'attesa" The webzine www.sonicbands.it dedicates its August special issue to Luminal. Patrizio Longo, a Blow Up's contributor, interviews Luminal on november, www.patriziolongo.com/extranet. Quello che resta is presented during "The Jungle", on the web radio www.lsdnetwork.com, and is also available in their own compilation "In New Music We Trust" and another one entitled "Critical Music" made by the Leoncavallo venue. Insomnia is featured in the Circolo degli Artisti's "Fuori Scena" compilation. Il Regno is available in another compilation promoted by www.staypunk.it Inferno/Paradiso is featured in the compilation "AnnoZero" (www.myspace.com/annozerocompilation) On the 29th of July 2006 Luminal wins the first prize at the "Maya il suono della terra" festival in Poggio Moiano (Rieti) which sees many other talented acts like Surgery, Astarte Syriaca and Frog Splash. On October they complete recording their extended play "Il Regno", produced and mixed by Guido Del Vescovo. The tracks off this ep get massive airplay on the following radios: RadioAttiva, AgropoliWebRadio, Radio SkyLab, RadioMondo, Networkstudio5, God Save The Radio, Radio Cernusco Stereo, Radio Sibari Sole, Radio Bluff, Chickradio, TrackTor, RTIn Radio e Radio TLT. At the Radio Galileo studios Luminal got interviewed and played an exclusive acoustic show, available on youtube since 10/04/2007) Ephebia described the songs featured in Il Regno "5 pearls really impressive, perfectly balanced between fury and moments somehow intimate, demonstrating an unexpected maturity for a band that's so young and fresh. There's strength and fun in their sound and charme in Alessandra's patti smith-like voice. They can also stand securely and boldly on stage. On November the 22nd 2006 they were, alongside with mates Betty Ford Center, part of the tv program RadioCasbah hosted by Enrico Capuano. On November the 12th 2006 Luminal were interviewed by the street tv of the Third University of Rome, right bifore they played at the Villaggio Globale venue. On May the first they perform with Super Elastic Bubble Plastic at the Lecce's Woodstock festival. On May 21 they perform with The Drones, one of the most important bands of the Australian scene, at Cantina Mediterraneo. Since June Luminal are proud to be part of Alkemist Fanatix's roster. On June 24 the perform with Sal y Mileto, a pillar of Ecuador’s rock. After just one year their myspace reaches 30.000 hits with about 80 per day. On July the 28th will perform at the Underground Italian Festival, with other acts such as Torquemada, DDR, Betty Ford Center.
