Farcry is a Hungarian metal band with thrash and death metal influences. The band itself was formed in 2003 by three ambitious friends, Kis Tamás, Szabo Csaba and Kiss Balint. Csaba's brother, Szabo Zsolt joined in after a year. The basic idea was to create something unique based on the several kinds of music we listened to at that time. The introductory demo material was recorded in 2006, and debuted in an underground radio show which deals with extreme music in Hungary, called Gorezone (Tilos Radio). We received so many positive feedbacks from all over the country that we were inspired to work harder than before, and we moved slowly from simple thrash metal towards a more complex and technical music. These basic changes can be seen if you compare the demo of 2006 and our second demo recorded in the April of 2008. The new material is called Carnivorous, containing three songs. All of these are available on our Myspace profile. Unfortunately, the recording of Carnivorous marked the beginning of radical changes in the history of Farcry. New members joined in, because others left the band. It was the death and rebirth of Farcry at the same time. These changes were necessary in order to move on the right way. Kis Janos Benedek (guitar), Patkos Peter (bass) and Abonyi Attila (drums) joined Farcry in November. With the new members, Farcry kept its original viewpoint of music and refreshed at the same time. The new songs are even more brutal and technically developed but more melancolical or let’s say „metaphisical” as well. From the early times of Farcry, we wanted to combine everyday’s brutality with the misery of life, which mixture is so typical of our present society, and transformed it to the language of music. We are searching the inner truth that remains hidden from the common men. It might sound a bit forced, but the basic concept is this, altogether with the love of music itself.
From the beginning, Farcry took part in several frantic shows at different part of the country, but mainly in Southern Hungary. Besides its “extreme” nature, our music can be enjoyable for different age- and social-groups. There are completely different people among our fans. We want to pass our songs to as many people as possible. We are a real “concert” band, which is able to reproduce the songs with the same intensity, accuracy and technical preparedness that can be heard on our studio records. Besides giving concerts, we also took part successfully on festivals seeking talented bands: SZTEhetségkutató II. place+best guitarist+Negative Art surcharge, Rockmaraton, Peron Tehetsegkutato, Metalchamp Hungarian final (Budapest, Kultiplex), ABC Tehetsegkutato, etc... Farcry's design works are made and lyrics are written by Kis Tamas, concerns different matters and issues, such as religion, life and death, human fears, instincts, the similarities and dissimilarities between humans and animals, the manifestation of subconscious, the mechanism of nature, etc.
Our short term plan is to record a full length album with 9-10 songs and give as many concerts as possible. We thing that it is time to break off from the “vicious circle” of Hungarian music life, and open our way to foreign possibilities.
