Behind every melody, there’s a scream. Behind every angel there’s a cry. Being monodimensional was a possibility that 7th Deadly Sin never took into account. Not even when in November 2003 Peter (voice/guitar) Siuba (guitar) and Manu (bass) bound by a passion for a certain kind of music mostly unknown to all the people they knew, began to play in the basements of their houses trying to merge new metal and punk inspiration. Those were the years when the “screaming” technique in Italy was beginning to grow in popularity thanks to mainstream scene bands such as Linkin’ Park, Lost Prophets, Deftones and others: the whole band grew up listening to that kind of “new noise” and also thanks to the arrival of Fred-I.-Scream (voice/scream) who claims Chino Moreno as his own inspiration. The band began serious rehearsing when Puz (drums) a childhood friend who already had is own project running, abandoned that very project to firmly follow and define 7th Deadly Sin rhythm section. The band finds its stable roster in January- Febraury 2004 and begins writing the first songs trying to combine memorable hooks with fierce aggressions, mostly in the lyrics where the screaming and singing blend was truly unusual for the Italian scene of the period. In the first four months together (March-June 2004) the band completes their first 5 songs, and those songs are ready to be played live: although the audience isn’t ready for the kind of sound brought out by this five piece, the first performances set the tone to the restless and crazy acting on stage, a trademark of their future shows. With the end of the summer a new writing process begins (September 2004-March 2005) and sees the birth of 4 new songs pushing the boundary to a emo-core sound, but still with a new metal vein, proving an extreme and fascinating growth by the five. In fact the participation to live shows and contest in Tuscany in Summer 2005 demonstrate the raising of the bar in the affinity of the band members and a new found personality: this time whether the critics may be doubtful, the audience will always show their interest in this band. In September 2005 the turning point of 7th Deadly Sin sound is complete, reaching the screamo/metalcore attitude: the band writes “Hiding Behind Your Fake Image” and “The Angel Staring At The Bloodbath”, and records these songs in 2006; those two represent the most complex and refined songs that the band was capable of writing at the time. At the end of 2006 Puz leaves the band. They immediately start casting new drummers. The band is actually rehearsing, ready to surprise the audience with new, fresh, multidimensional sound purposes. Behind every melody, there’s a scream. Behind every angel there’s a cry.
